The Blood Curse

The central horror of this world. It is both a disease and a law — a hunger that rewrites the soul. Those who bear it must feed on human blood regularly or risk losing themselves entirely. The curse binds its victims to a terrible bargain: power and longevity in exchange for an ever-growing thirst that erodes the mind. Many who carry it form tight-knit communities within the Towers, bound by shared rituals and the desperate hope of controlling the hunger rather than being consumed by it. Legends speak of ancient bloodlines said to have mastered the curse completely, though none have ever been proven to exist.

The Divine

The unseen power that answers the prayers of the faithful. Those who prove their courage and devotion may be granted abilities of radiant power — weapons of sunlight, shields of faith, and bursts of holy inspiration. The Divine is not a gentle force; it demands sacrifice, vigilance, and unwavering belief. Its blessings often come at great personal cost, leaving the faithful marked by glowing sigils or haunting visions. In the endless night, the Divine represents the last spark of hope against the darkness, a reminder that even in a world without sun, light can still be called forth through faith and will.

The Fall

No one knows exactly when the world ended. It has been this way for generations — perhaps over a century. The sun vanished. The storms came. The dead walked. What remains is a shattered world of ash-choked skies and endless night, where the ruins of the old age stand as silent monuments to hubris. Survivors speak of the final days in hushed tones: the great cities falling one by one, the screams of the newly cursed, and the desperate flight to the Towers. The Fall is not merely history — it is a living wound that still shapes every decision, every prayer, and every desperate plan to reclaim what was lost.

The Hunters

Those who rely on wit, skill, and invention. They study the enemy with cold precision, developing weapons, tools, and techniques passed down through secret mentorships. The Hunters are the unsung heroes of the Towers — quiet, pragmatic, and utterly dedicated to the survival of humanity. They venture into the wastes not for glory, but because someone must. Their craft is equal parts science, tradition, and grim necessity, blending old-world knowledge with desperate innovation born from living in perpetual shadow. Many Hunters carry journals filled with observations, weaknesses, and hard-won lessons that have saved countless lives.

The Towers

Humanity's last refuges. Massive, ash-reinforced fortresses scattered across the ruined world. Within their walls, the last remnants of civilization endure. Each Tower is a world unto itself, with its own customs, hierarchies, and secrets. Some are gleaming bastions of order and faith, while others have fallen into decay and superstition. The Towers are more than stone and steel — they are living testaments to human resilience, standing defiant against a world that has tried to swallow them whole. Yet even these mighty strongholds are not immune to the creeping influence of the Blood Curse.
